WD20SDZW-11Z3CS0 Data Recovery Case Log
19Sep23: This case is pictured above. The WD20SDZW-11Z3CS0 charger, manufactured on June 4, 2018, has unique issues. It can be detected by the computer, but upon connection, it freezes the PC. This problem is compounded by physical damage, as the hard drive itself is bent. To address these challenges, we utilized Xeltex technology to read the ROM. We successfully unlocked the Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) feature and converted it to SATA. Despite encountering Master Boot Record (MRB) issues and bad sectors, the good news is that the data remains intact, ready for recovery.
Not detecting Western Digital WD20SDZW-11Z3CS0 Data Recovery Caselog
01DEC25: Customer brought in a hard drive that stopped working 6 years ago. The hard drive is not detecting and out of 2TB WD My Passport PN: WDBS4B0020WT-0B. PCB: 2060-800067-001 rev p1.ย

03Dec25: SED unlock with programmer (using SOIC pogo pin adapter now, much faster). Soldered SATA adapter. Charger family. Comes ready with full ID, has access to first and last sectors, bad sectors in SMART. MRB slow, so block 411 in ROM and reboot. MRB (fast). ID01 and ID02 modifications. Enabled TLER. Backed up whole T2 module (not just areas reading). Locked UA writing. Unblocked mod 411 in ROM and reboot. H0 weak, did not image completely. Imaged H1, H2. No data on H3. Drive would semi-frequently start erroring for all commands (including reads), so had to adjust DE script for read failures - enabled power off/on. Customer happy with the results.
